Keep on Rollin'...

No Mississippi moon here... just hot Arizona sun. At least it's relatively pleasant right now. But blazing hot temp's are right around the corner - which leads me to wonder how I'm going to approach my new "healthy lifestyle" I've been working on.

Let's start with the good news:

Starting weight = A LOT.
Current weight = 15 lbs less than that with about a 20 inch loss all around.

Whoo hoo!

Goal weight = 8 more pounds to go until I reach my 1st goal weight.

(I know, I'm not really being all that clever - it's not all that hard to find my other site with those numbers...so - have at it.)

After reaching my goal, it's on to my Final Goal - another 10 lbs. But, we'll walk that road when we get to it.

Here's the next piece of good news: My husband has reserved $400 for me to spend on new clothes when I get within 5 lbs of my Final Goal.

Very exited, I am. **Sorry, I have been watching Star Wars and that just slipped out! ;)**

The Bad News: It's getting hot. I don't know if I'll keep myself motivated to do my 2 mile morning walks when it's over 90 degrees at 6 in the morning.

Keep your fingers crossed - I'll keep ya posted.

The Highs and Lows of the Water Hole

We've got the swimming pool blues... Looks great though, right???

We are all ready to swim, being that it is 100 degrees here in Phx already and our pool is not ready.

We have kept our pool well maintained throughout the winter and have had no problems until now. Apparently, our chlorine doesn't like our pool. It keeps disappearing.

Shasta Pools (the people who put ours in) has had us add countless chemicals, multiple times and today when I got the water tested: 0 chlorine.

WTF?

Now, they say add Stabelizer... that will help.

Well, we'll see. I'm not convinced. And if THAT doesn't work, we have to get the Shasta service people out here to figure out what the heck is going on.

:(

I want to swim. Wah!

This house is SICK. And, I mean that literally.

Ugh. Both my husband and my son are sick. It started on Saturday, and today, they are finally - better. Not great, but better.

They both started feeling sick on Friday night, and by Monday they both were running a 102 temp. Doctor's diagnosis?

Rob: Sinus Infection/Strep
Austin: Strep

YAY!

So, I have been hoping to dodge this illness and so far, so good. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Ok. So I haven't blogged as much as I said I was going to.

So sue me.

To be honest, I have had zero extra time to create a great read. But, stay tuned. I have something in the works. Not to mention, a little something from my upcoming San Diego trip - pictures and everything!

So, keep checking back. You just never know when I might decide to lay one on ya.

Book: Paint It Black by Janet Fitch

This book was............. hard to finish. But, not because it was bad. It actually wasn't a bad story - just had a LOT of story.

It took me well over a week to finish Paint It Black, by Janet Finch. It is 13 sound discs - or about 16 hours of listening. In real life, it is 400 pages.

The whole book centers around one question: Why?

Teen runaway Josie Tyrell spends this entire book trying to answer this question as to why her boyfriend, Michael Faraday, took his own life.

Why he left her behind. Why his life was surrounded by secrets. Why she couldn't seem to find the answers that she desperately seeks. Why Josie feels incredible guilt for what has happened - taking us inside the head of a person left behind.

The story is simple - but takes off in several directions, giving us details about Josie and Michael and other characters and events that all take us back to the same place. It is not at all hard to follow - in fact, even if my mind drifted from time to time, it didn't make the story confusing.

And, to make my review messier, I will say that I was interested to see where this long journey was going to end up. It just took me a while to get there.

I would say that if anything, it was too long. But the story wasn't bad. Kind of depressing, but maybe even a little enlightening - reminding us of things we forget in our lives.

I say: 3.5 out of 5 bookmarks. (Only because I never felt a rush to turn the page...)
